    How to increase the size of “/boot”?

    0) Stop your database first

    1) Add a new disk to your virtual machine and create a new partition

    # mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdb

    2) Mount the new partition at a temporary location
    # cd /mnt
    # mkdir boot
    # mount /dev/sdb /mnt/boot

    3) Move contents of the “/boot” folder
    # cd /boot
    # mv * /mnt/boot/.

    4) Unmount the partition
    # umount /mnt

    5) Find uuid of the disk
    # ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid/ | grep sdb
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Jan 13 14:51 2899bf01-a3fd-4687-a953-c49dbeb0891d -> ../../sdb

    6) Reboot your machine

    7) Mount “/boot” on the new partition at boot time
    # vi /etc/fstab
    UUID=edef89c3-133a-4ca0-b324-b05662baf6fa / ext4 defaults,noatime 0 1
    UUID=5691bcd3-179e-47bd-83f5-76da3ab6e59d /boot ext3 defaults,noatime, 0 1
    UUID=2899bf01-a3fd-4687-a953-c49dbeb0891d /vault ext4 defaults,noatime 0 1
    NOTE: Your disk’s UUID will vary. Please do not use the UUID text as is.

    8) Check what’s mounted
    # mount -a

    9) Another check
    # df -h

    10) Reboot the machine
    # reboot
